Hey Bloggers!
This past Sunday, February 2nd, I was home alone in the morning and decided it was the perfect time to practice playing the Ukulele! It was nice to be home alone while playing because I didn’t have to worry about making too much noise or having my family listen to me…I’m a little shy when it comes musicing. To start off I made sure my ukulele was a little out of tune, I had a really hard time tuning the C string for some reason. I think it’s because it was so out of tune that it required a lot of turning to get it on the right key. When I began I went over the chord patterns and I found where the chord pattern changes were and made mental notes of what the lyrics are in the song leading up to the chord pattern change, and the dynamics of the song. For example, I noticed in the last chord pattern change the song transitions from mezzo-forte to fortissimo (hope I used those right). Now I know that when the music gets louder I will have to prepare to change my chords. Making a note of this instantly helped as I started picking up the chord changes much faster than I was in my previous practices. I am still struggling a little at remembering when the second chord pattern change happens as I usually get into the sing and kind of zone out (whoops), but I caught myself doing that and then the next time I went through the song I remembered.
I ended up playing for about 45 mins that day which was really cool because time seemed to pass so quickly. I think I could have played for longer as my family didn’t get home until later, but I found that my fingers were getting pretty sore from playing so I decided to call it a day. Once I was done I was wondering where my cat had been as I hadn’t seen her since I had started playing. I ended up finding her on the couch passed right out! I think she must have liked my ukulele playing because she was in a deep sleep when I found her!
